I have to admit that I am kind of disappointed of the whole international system. UN, Human Rights, NGO’s, world leaders, they have all accomplished NOTHING concerning the “Iranian question”.

While I was studying for my BA in International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem a few years ago I figured out that international players, i.e. states, are primarily interested in power. At no time I have felt this more than during the last couple of months since it became more and more obvious that the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinedjad is keeping on playing with the entire world. I mean,  even the leader of the [Iranian] Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was quoted as saying: ” It’s not about Islam. Forget this. It’s all about power. Nothing else is important.”  So what is the world exactly expecting from Ahmadinedjad, with radical Shi’i spiritual leader Khamenei, successor of Khomeini, sitting in his neck?

Does any world leader actually believe that Iran will suddenly change its radical attitude? I very much doubt it. But noone has an answer. Iran keeps on ignoring the world’s deadlines and demands. Again and again. Parts of the world still believe in talks and dialogue. This is not only ridiculous, it is sad, since at some point there won’t be a way back  to a “relatively save world”; at some point Iran will possess its atomic bomb and will be able to attack Sunni-, Jewish-, Christian-states throughout the Middle East and Europe at will.

US President B.H. Obama has been awarded a nobel peace price for his efforts; sometime I feel that he should have been awarded a price for being the main responsible for leading the world into destruction. Sounds crazy, hn? I know, but you simply can’t talk to people who want to destroy you and your values. Not one word coming out of the mouth of the Iranian leadership shall be trusted and the world needs to finally get to know the Shi’i “Takiye-principle” which allows the Shi’is to lie in times of danger/harassment/threat (see also previous post in German: http://aro1.com/wordpress/arye/iran/takija-legales-luegen-im-schiitentum/)

Well, I bet you ask yourself now “what threat exactly is Aro talking about”, right? And I tell you, that Iran ALWAYS felt and will keep on feeling threatened by the western powers. Iranians are aware of the fact that the world talks to them on the one hand; on the other hand though, is planning the worse case scenario: War!

Yesterday evening I was watching a pretty interesting round table discussion on FRANCE 24 about the elections in Afghanistan and the US involvement there. Before the discussion started the moderator asked his four guests, Christopher Dickey, Newsweek’s Paris Bureau Chief, Jose-Manuel Lamarque, Journalist with France Inter Radio, Leela Jacinto of France 24’s Internet Desk and George Kazolias, Journalist and Professor of Communications at AUP, if they believe that the world can trust Iran? All four replied in one voice: “Iran is bullshitting the world“.

I am glad that these four distinguished guests on France 24’s evening round table understand the situation. But this is not enough. The world needs to wake up.

No more dialogue!

No more deadlines!

No more: next week, next month, next year!
